Why did you decide to create your blog?

I began it as a creative experiment where I could learn new skills. The blog has opened doors to a new career in social media consulting, graphic design and freelance writing, which has given me the creative outlet I had been looking for. I also wanted to offer a voice to readers, especially those of South Asian descent, who are eager to see their local and global heritage represented and to make East/West style more accessible.

What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever made? And best bargain buy?

Biggest splurge: A trip sailing around the Virgin Islands. Best bargain buy: A vintage Tahari dress I got for $20.

What are your must-have beauty products?

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer with SPF 30 Sunscreen, Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense and Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain in Baby Boo and Diamond Lip Gloss in Gold Leaf (to add a touch of sparkle to the center of your pout.)

What’s your signature look?

I love printed pants and a tee or a midi with a bit of volume. I usually step out in something colorful, comfortable and chic.

What’s your #1 fashion rule?

If you look good, you feel good. So put in a few extra minutes in the morning to step out in something that will make you happy, whether it means wearing a bright yellow top or trying a new braid style. It’s an instant pick-me-up for the rest of the day.
