Paris Couture Week is kind of a big thing for editors, celebrities and rich clientele.
While the avant garde pieces may seem unpractical to most of us, it gives interested parties the opportunity to see the skills of designers and potentially get them to design custom items. There’s a lot that goes on behind the runway.
So the idea of a lot of these patrons not attending the shows, is concerning. But according to Page Six, there may be less A-listers due to recent terrorist threats on the city.
As reported by Page Six:
Organizers have said they’re having harder times trying to fill seats for their presentations. We’re told security issues are a concern, with some skittish to fly to Paris after the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine last week. “Security is going to be tough, and with tensions so high, I’d skip,” said one fashion insider.
Paris, like every other major metropolitan cities, has been the victim of terrorist attacks and threats– so this is really nothing new. Nonetheless, with Couture Week scheduled to begin Jan 25, one does wonder if the city is prepared.
In the meantime, take a look at A-listers who regularly attend Paris Couture Week on the next pages.
