So Timberland made headlines this week first for breaking things off with A.P.C. after founder Jean Touitou in a manner that was a little too fresh for many. Their decision meant that we would not be seeing the French brand’s iteration of the label’s classic shoe come to market. But it seems that another brand already has sent an iteration of it to market.
The boot above looks like a pretty classic Timberland boot. A little shiny yes, but otherwise pretty good. Except it’s not. Except Timberland had nothing to do with the creation of this boot except maybe being the brand to copy. This is all Jeffrey Campbell’s doing and we don’t think that’s OK.
Don’t get us wrong, we love Jeffery Campbell. Their booties and heels inspire major shoe envy whenever we spot them out and about. But the fact that they would copy such a classic and recognizable style is sort of puzzling. All the details point to the most classic of Timberland styles and we’d like to think the brand is better than this. Inspiration is totally ok but outright knock-offs, no ma’am.
