Finding inspiration in youthful memories, Kate Spade New York’s chief creative officer, Deborah Lloyd, kept the playful vibe of author Roald Dahl in mind this season. Lloyd, who said she escaped as a child by “reading amazing books such as Dahl’s and imagining yourself with these characters,” paid homage to a witty childhood while including a touch of sophistication for Fall 2015.
In a location inspired by Bemelmans Bar, the presentation told a “whimsical and fun” story, with bright pink strapless brocades, huge bows and oversized outerwear carrying the same hue. But the collection quickly dialed down as another element introduced itself – one that always manages to make a statement: plaid!
Embodying separates like jackets, skirts, and even capes, the checkered print was accompanied by functional flat loafers and faux fur accents that we fell in love with! Not to mention, the brand’s staple accessories took a turn for the better as well. Standout handbags included an owl-shaped minaudiere, sleek suede totes and faux fur clutches.
