Layers are not something Miu Miu’s creative director Miuccia Prada is shy of but for fall 2015 they were executed with purpose.
For the collection, some are saying looked divided, the Italian brand under Prada’s wing used an assortment if prints to show contrast at each level. Striped long sleeve shirts tucked under patent leather skirts with a short topper were a reoccurring ensemble on the dainty beauties.
The presentation of 40 looks was all so Italian, reminiscent of Sophia Loren’s character in “Marriage Italian Style.” Playing a small town call girl from Naples, with the confidence of a royal, the leopard print day dresses were dressed up with luxe sequin trench coats and flowered jewelry. Thick hounds-tooth coats with leather minis. Chambray house gowns with sparkly flats– the low met the high.
And when the themed steered away from the Italian dramatic comedy, it showed unassuming beauty with little makeup on the models who’s hair was messily tied up into loose crown braids.
More than any other collection there was an honest sense of innocence from the easy day dresses to darker nightwear.
