For the third installation of her collaborator’s series, fashion designer Rachel Roy tapped professional surfer Karina Petroni to design a range of shoes. Despite not being remotely related to fashion at all, Roy chose Petroni because of her respect for Petroni’ art form and fearlessness with open water. Roy can be considered a sophomore to the fashion game. After coming up the ranks at Rocawear, she branched out from the streetwear arena and established her namesake label in the fashion world with the guidance of Vogue Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Tally. Petroni, on the other hand, has been a spectator in the garment game and is finally getting her feet wet. The result of unlikely pairing— three shoes: a strappy wedge, a slingback espadrille and high-top sneaker, that are at once functional, fun, and stylish. The shoes have been released under Roy’s diffusion label, RACHEL Rachel Roy and are reasonably priced, all under $140. Shop the collection at RachelRoy.com
