Janet Jackson is not holding back when it comes to her highly anticipated world tour, and that applies to the fashion.
For her “Unbreakable” tour, Jackson is teaming up with Giuseppe Zanotti, who will design her custom sneakers and the dressing the tours backup singers and dancers.
According to WWD, this is the first time Zanotti has taken on a full tour wardrobe.
“Janet is a close friend of mine — we have been close for a long time and I have always felt the greatest affection for her,” Zanotti said. “She has always been a very loyal supporter of the brand and product. She talked to me about her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour when we were together in Milan earlier this year, [and] she asked me to consider making her a special shoe for the tour. Of course, I was…very flattered and I immediately started to sketch some ideas out for her.”

The sneaker Zanotti designed is based one of the brand’s most popular styles, a high-top, but with one-of-a-kind touches like two exclusive color combinations and buckles.
“Janet will be dancing a lot on stage as well as singing, so I wanted her to be very comfortable and able to move around easily,” Zanotti said. “The shoe has to be light but practical and provide support to her feet.”
Zanotti has designed footwear for tour before, including Beyonce, Rihanna and FKA twig, but this is the first time Zanotti is the only footwear featured. The Janet Jackson tour kicks off at the end of August and will run through 2016, with stops in Vancouver, Ft. Lauderdale and New York.
