It was a flash back to the days of Cristóbal Balenciaga himself at the Balenciaga Fall 2016 runway show.
The majority of the pieces were practical and wearable clothing, pieces that women who want to be well dressed, actually need in their wardrobes. Veteran designer Demna Gvasalia, who is now creative director at Balenciaga said, “I started by making a list of garments, which is what we do at Vetements.” Adding, “Like the shirt, the coat, the trench coat, the aviator, the floral dress, the sweater. Then we drape—I never do sketches.”
Draping or sketching, it definitely worked in his favor!
The range was made up of useful outerwear, the statement floral dress, the key sweater, the power suit, the iconic white shirt and handbags for every need. Not boring us in the slightest, Demna Gvasalia made the wardrobe staples look fashion-conscious with his use of pulled back neck lines and ‘the layered look’; basically styling the blaze out of a simple and practical collection.
