StyleBlazer Certified: Louis Vuitton Gets Spotty with Yayoi Kusama Collection (Pop Art Enthusiast Rejoice!)

The folks over at Louis Vuitton are seeing spots. Their latest collection was inspired by the work of Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist known for her obsession and preoccupation with spots. The line finds a myriad of  ways to incorporate the dots into the Louis Vuitton style lexicon. This collaboration is in the same vein of the Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami Pop Art collections, that featured neon graffiti and smiley face flowers respectively.

While this spotted line is a major departure from the logo’d out pieces that we’re used to seeing from Louis Vuitton, we love that fact that they’ve taken such an artistic departure with this collection. The first half of the collection will debut in Louis Vuitton shops on July 10th, just two days before the retrospective of Kusama’s art opens at The Whitney Museum in NYC. The second half is slated for an October release.
