PFW Runway Recap: Christian Dior Spring 2013 Packs In Lots Of Polite Nods To The House’s Past

Paris Fashion Week saw the premiere of Raff Simon’s much-anticipated Ready-To-Wear collection for the Christian Dior house. The Spring 2013 collection gave a polite nod to the past with a reference to Dior’s “bar suit,” which was done with a modern twist.  We saw the iconic “new look” in ankle skimming full skirts, done in iridescent fabrics paired with sleek black tops.  Images of the “bar suit” jacket danced about in our heads as a tuxedo jacket, accompanied by well-tailored black pants strolled down the runway.  The glamor didn’t stop there, we were also treated to mini party dresses, also done in an iridescent fabric, that teased us with  little tailored black shorts that peeked out from underneath.  Simon also played around with different fabrics, which were evident in the silk, chiffon, lace and tulle numbers he sent down the runway.  The excitement for the collection spanned from head to toe.  On the feet of the models were futuristic pointy toe pumps with a somewhat curved heel, which complemented the outfits perfectly.
