The 1:30pm scheduled taping of NBC’s reality show “Fashion Stars” was cancelled yesterday, October 13th, when crew members walked off the job early Saturday morning. The crew went on strike and started picketing, outside Hollywood Center Studios, to protest their lack of, and inability to secure, union representation. The strike was organized and led by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). Mike Miller, head of IATSE West Coast, was quoted in an interview as having said, “it’s a successful network show that continues to refuse industry standards and health and pension benefits to crew members.” There is no word yet as to whether or not negotiation talks are in progress.
