Hip Hops Big Earners: The Top 20 Earners In Hip Hop 2012

Forbes has announced the top earners in hip hop for 2012 and while some of the big names are of course on the list, there are some newcomers who have made the list for the first time in 2012. Check out our list of the Top 20 Earners in Hip Hop 2012!

Dr. Dre - $110 million

Though he hasn't released an album in a while, Dr. Dre still topped the list of the hip hop stars. The reason he topped the list is because of his new Beats headphone line.

Sean "Diddy" Combs - $45 million

Another hip hop star who hasn't released in album in years but somehow made the number two spot. He does make money on old music, but the majority comes from his share in Cîroc Vodka.

Jay-Z - $38 million

Jay-Z and Beyonce make some good money together, as he finished in the number three spot. Thanks to music, his concerts, and other businesses, he pulled in $38 million last year.

Kanye West - $35 million

Kanye had a huge hit with Jay-Z this past year and went on tour. He also designs shoes for Nike and has a women's clothing line.

Lil' Wayne - $27 million

Lil' Wayne took in $27 million this past year thanks to his album selling one million copies in one week, his clothing line Trukfit and a partnership with Pepsi's Mountain Dew.

Drake - $20.5 million

Drake made a lot of news this past year after his bar fight with Chris Brown (who is absent from this list), but his second album sold 631,000 copies in the first week and he had a successful tour promoting the album. He also has endorsement deals with Sprite and Kodak.

Birdman - $20 million

Birdman has clothing and vodka that brings in some money, but he is more known as the co-founder and chief of Cash Money Records, which has Lil' Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake.

Nicki Minaj - $15.5 million

The only woman to make the list is Nicki and she brought home $15.5 million. She made a Super Bowl appearance and has a Pepsi deal and is now a  judge on American Idol, so she is making a name for herself.

Eminem - $15 million

He has sold more albums in the past decade than anyone else, so that money continues to roll in for Eminem. He has had some tour dates and a new album coming out next year!

Ludacris - $12 million

Ludacris has his hand in a lot of things: movie roles, Conjure cognac, Soul headphones and voiceovers for Radio Shack. A little here and there adds up!

Pitbull - $9.5 million

Pitbull gets all around the world and thanks to tours, music and endorsement deals (Kodak and Dr. Pepper), he brought in $9.5 million last year.

Rick Ross - $9 million

He is the head of Maybach Music Group and brings home money from that label, but he also made good money off concerts and album sales.

Wiz Khalifa - $9 million

Wiz hasn't hidden his love for marijuana and that has upped his likeness with his fans. He has sold a lot of albums and merchandise and he needs to with a baby on the way with Amber Rose.

Snoop Lion - $8.5 million

Snoop Dogg has had this rebirth of himself and is now focusing on reggae music and renamed himself Snoop Lion. He still has album sales, endorsements, and concerts bringing in the money though.

50 Cent - $7.5 million

50 Cent use to top this list, but still made the Top 20 when he took home $7.5 million this past year. He gets some money from album sales, but it came from his SMS headphones, G-Unit clothing line and Street King energy shot.

Swizz Beatz - $7 million

Swizz Beats has deals with Reebok and Lotus and got money from production credits, but his wife (Alicia Keys) will always be more popular.

Pharrell Williams - $7 million

The super producer Pharrell continues to make money off his music, but the big dollars came from his liqueur line called Qream and his Billionaire Boys Club clothing line.

Young Jeezy - $7 million

Young Jeezy released an album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition, last Decemeber and it has sold over 500,000 copies. With the album sales, touring and a clothing line, he took home $7 million.

Mac Miller - $6.5 million

Mac Miller made his way on the list for the first time, as he climbed the Billboard charts with his indie album. He isn't old enough to legally party with the rest of the guys, he still has $6.5 million in his pocket from all the touring.

Akon, Timbaland and Tech N9ne - $6 million

These guys all made $6 million and finish out the Top 20. Akon toured, Timbaland produced (and made the list for the sixth straight year) and Tech N9ne is not fully known, but had over 200 tour dates last year!
